Students' Affairs Council (SAC)

The Students' Affairs Council (SAC) is the official representative organization of the student community at IISER Kolkata. It serves as a bridge between the student body and the institute administration, fostering academic growth, cultural vibrancy, athletic excellence, and social responsibility.

All registered students of IISER Kolkata are members of the SAC General Body.

The mission of SAC is to enrich campus life and safeguard student interests through structured governance and community initiatives:

• Promote student welfare, health, and campus safety.
• Manage and support student-run academic, cultural, and sports clubs.
• Organize major institutional events including annual fests, sports meets, and cultural nights.
• Voice student feedback on academic, hostel, and dining facilities to administrative committees.

The SAC Executive Council is elected annually by the student body:

• President: Overall student leadership and institutional liaison.
• General Secretary (Hostel): Coordinates residential affairs, hygiene, and hostel representative councils.
• General Secretary (Sports): Manages sports facilities, teams, and inter-college tournaments.
• General Secretary (Culture): Coordinates cultural societies, performances, and the annual fest.
• General Secretary (Academic): Represents student academic feedback on DAC and Senate committees.
• General Secretary (Environment): Drives sustainability, green campus, and recycling projects.

The dedicated SAC Building houses student club activity rooms, music practice spaces, indoor games rooms, and meeting halls for council operations.
