INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH (IISER) KOLKATA was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The central theme of the IISER Kolkata is to integrate education with research so that undergraduate teaching as well as doctoral and postdoctoral research work could be carried out in symbiosis.
Nascent but multi-disciplinary as well as inter-disciplinary research structure gives the students an unparalleled experience to gel with scientists and industrialists and a possibility to contribute at the highest level of science across various disciplines. The unique training in promoting world class research with a mandate for nurturing talents for leading research and development and solving complex problems in almost all the disciplines makes IISER Kolkata students special.

Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell): The E-Cell is a prominent student club dedicated to instilling entrepreneurial thinking. It focuses on developing essential career readiness skills such as innovation, problem-solving, effective communication, and opportunity recognition.
RISE Foundation IISER: The institute's very own Technology Business Incubator supports deep-tech startups by providing mentorship, funding facilitation, Intellectual Property (IP) guidance, and commercialization support. To date, RISE Foundation has successfully incubated over 50 startups across diverse sectors including Biotechnology, Healthcare, Artificial Intelligence, Agriculture, and Sustainability.
